Here we are in 2009...
Having run a Holidays 'needs' thread through December 2008, HOST and many wonderful Etsians have helped many others in need; http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5956285 This thread did bring sales and support of promotions but most important, there have been new friendships made, and a sharing of ideas, knowledge and resources, that we hope will provide continued support and assistance for those who need it 9see the links in the left hand column of this blog).
A new thread has been started for the New Year - http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5977992 - and we are hoping that by continuing with forum threads like this one, Etsians in need will be able to find us more easily!
Thank you to everyone who has so generously donated items to the HOST store; the store looks amazing and your donations are a huge bonus for HOST since more items and sales enable us to help out more Etsians in need of basic, day to day financial assistance.
A very warm welcome also to all those Etsians who have found HOST and decided to join us! We are delighted to have you on the team, and are very much looking forward to getting to know you better, and working with you :)

HOST update
One of our members is slowly reopening her own Etsy shop - check it out at http://melaniesoriginals.etsy.com - and had the fantastic idea of featuring interviews of HOST members on her blog! She has just posted her first in this series - an interview with our lovely Michelle of http://fireandicedesigns.etsy.com Go read the interview at http://melaniesoriginals.blogspot.com/ and keep an eye out for the next HOSTie seller to be featured :)
Another of our members was also lucky enough to snag a treasury west today - yay crochetmaggie! Check out her lovely shop at http://crochetmaggie.etsy.com/
We have pasted the treasury in here in case you don't catch it while it's live (just click on the image for the larger version):

HELPING OTHERS IS WHAT WE DO!
HOST is now up and running - thanks to some greatly appreciated help from the beautiful Etsy community. Artists, all with a sense of community that expands to helping when others need a boost!
HOST has used the donations it has received to help many fellow Etsians with small needs but there is one Etsian who needs a little more than we are able to provide, so here is how YOU can help:
Log into http://www.modestneeds.org/ (it's easy :)
You can then load "points" into your account; 1 point = $1.00
Our fellow Etsian is a struggling student who is between grants and she needs help with paying her rent. Haven't we all been there a time or two? Just a couple of extra dollars donated by many would make this deserving person's life so much better. Here is her "Modest Needs" link:
http://www.modestneeds.org/features/ledger/viewapp.asp?mode=upd&rp=l&id=78350&pageno=3&monthno=30&yearno=0
Any help you can offer is so gratefully received - thank you all so much!

Creative minds for charity
Two Etsy street teams decided to make HOST the beneficiary of their cross team collaboration project. CGGE members created glass beads and pendants for use in jewelry to be made by the etsyBEAD team. The two teams paired up and made some awesome creations! All items will be for sale in the HOST shop with the proceeds going directly to help fellow Etsians in need. We are honored to be able to receive these donations and are excited to be able to help more people in need as a result!
The teams are holding a vote starting tonight at midnight and lasting until Wednesday night at midnight. You can see the awesome jewelry and vote for a winner here: http://creativemindsforcharity.wordpress.com/
You can also learn more about the teams who made this possible. All the items will be listed for sale in the HOST team shop at http://host.etsy.com So be sure and stop by for a little retail therapy :)
